Voter ID is a very useful document through which a person can cast his/her vote. The Election Commission of India conducts this card to every Indian through which every person above 18 years can give a vote. This is also identity proof for a person. Voter ID Apply Online (2021)

If you are of 18 years and have not yet applied for your voter id card, then don’t worry here are the full procedure steps for voter id apply-

  1. First visit to the voter id website portal.
  2. Login to the portal to proceed further and if you don’t have an account then “Create an Account” by using this option on-page. Register yourself either with your email or mobile number and then verify it by OTP. Then, set up your password.
  3. As the newly registered applicant has successfully set up their password they can go on to the login page to log in.
  4. After login on dashboard, select option “New Voter Registration”.
  5. Then, the information page will open skip it by pressing the “Let’s Start” option.
  6. Further, it will ask if you have a voter id or not, if not then select the ” Yes, I’m applying for the first time” option.
  7. After that, it’ll ask about your nationality for applying for a voter card. Select appropriately and continue.
  8. As you move forward, now a new page will open where you have to enter your details related to DOB. (If your age is 21+ then, you have to submit the declaration form also.)
  9. Then, on the new page applicant have to upload his/her photograph ( The dimension of a photograph must be 3.54.5 cm (widthheight). Image size should be less than 200 KB and it’s acceptable only in the format of .jpg/.jpeg ). Select the category of disability if the applicant is disabled otherwise skip it and proceed further.
  10. Then, on the next page enter your family member voter id card number or EPIC number, fill in other details and proceed.
  11. On the next page enter your address details and upload a document for it.
  12. After doing this a declaration form will appear in which you have to mention the time you have been residing at that place.
  13. As you press the continue tab your form 6 application will appear to you. You just need to check all the details mentioned in it carefully if you thought that it may require any correction then you can press the edit tab otherwise press the submit tab.
  14. Once you submit the form you will receive a reference ID number and with the help of this, you can track the status of your Voter ID Card Status whose press has been discussed below.

Voter ID Apply Offline (2021)

The government of India has provided both the options for Voter ID applications online as well as offline. The online method is discussed above and the offline method is discussed here. Follow these steps to apply offline-

  1. At first, applicant has to download Form 6 (for application of voter id) from NVSP site or from the link below and can also ask from your area BLO.
  2. Read the form carefully and then fill all the required details.
  3. Attach the photographs required and photocopy of all the required documents.
  4. After completing the form with all the documents attached, submit your form to your BLO.

Voter ID Required Documents

If an applicant is applying for a voter id card no matter offline/online, he/she needs to attach documents that are necessary for the verification purpose and also for proof.

Following are the documents required for the application of voter id-

  1. Passport size photographs

NOTE: A Declearence certificate is required for age proof for the candidates whose age is above 21 years.

Check Voter ID Card Status (2021)

Voter ID came into existence in the year 1993, before that balled paper is used in elections. Voter cards can also use for age, identification, address proof which makes this document more important. It is mandatory for all people of age above 18 years. If a person wants to see a Voter ID status check then visit the official website of the Election Commission of your state. Now for better service and easy accessibility for users, new portals like NVSP were developed. Follow these steps to see Voter id card status-

  1. Login into your state official Electoral CEO website.
  2. Choose the option “Know the Status of Your Application for Enrolment”. Once clicked, a tab will open asking for some details, fill them corretly.

Voter ID Search by Name via NVSP Portal Status

  1. Selecting the option “Search in Electroral Roll” from the dashboard.
  2. When this link opens it shows 2 options to procedue-
    • “Search by Details” in this option enter the details asked like Name, Age, Father’s Name etc. correctly, then enter captcha code and then press search option.
    • “Search by EPIC number” in this you just have to search your voter id card by directly entering your Voter ID EPIC number and state, then enter captch code and select search option.
  3. Once, you selecte the search option, a pop-up form the website arrive on the top of screen, make sure you allow the pop-up.
  4. As it verifies you, a new tab will open and all details will open showing your Voter ID card status and number and also shows the e-Seva center number.
  5. Save both the numbers as with the help of these numbers you can see Voter ID updates or see new voter id card from that e-Seva center.

Note: Sometimes websites show failed results or may not load due to some crashes. Make sure you re-enter your details every time correctly.

All the 29 States of India have their own Election commission office. Therefore, each state has its respective official CEO website, where you can find details of your Voter’s ID application.

Check Voter ID Card Status by SMS Facility

Applicants can procedure for the voter id apply online by visiting their respective state websites of the Election Commission. Once the applicant applied the application for voter id status he/she can see it through various methods like online, calling, or by SMS.

Procedure to know the status of an application for voter id by SMS are as follows-

  1. Applicants first find out their voter id number.
  2. Then, SMS ‘EPIC’ followed by a space followed by their Voter ID application number.
  3. SMS the above message to the electoral officer.

Voter ID Application Status Steps Online

According to the law, every individual above 18 years must cast his/her vote to select their ideal candidate. For this process, you voter needs an ID called Voter ID. If the applicant has already applied for the ID then to see voter id track status, follow these steps-

  1. Visit the Voter id protal NVSP to check status.
  2. Login to the portal and if don’t have account then register yourself on the portal through easy steps-
    • Visit on the NVSP website and choose option Login/register on side.
    • A login box will appear, choose option “Don’t have account. Register as a new user”.
    • A register box will open, enter the mobile number and the captcha code. Then enter the OTP send to entered mobile number and verify it.
    • Choose option to proceed through Voter id EPIC number or without EPIC number.
    • If you select ‘I have EPIC’ option, you can register yourself by providing your EPIC number, email ID, and password.
    • And if you choose ‘I don’t have EPIC’ option, you can register yourself by providing your name, email ID, and password.
    • When you registered, just login into portal.
  3. Select the option ” Track Application Status” from the dashboard after you login.
  4. After that a new tab will open showing the option to enter the Refernce ID that you got at the time of registration.
  5. The complete status of your voter id is shown on the screen.

When Applicant Migrate to Different Place

When people shift from one place to another then Assembly Constituency changes. This means that your area changes and so that to your BLO. In new shifted place, applicants have to register themselves in that area voter list. For that changes have to be made and can be done online as well as offline also. Follow these steps to make changes-

First, visit the official website and login into the portal.

Now select the “Shifted to other places” option from the dashboard.

  1. When shifted outside AC
    • Fill the details asked on the screen and choose the “shifted outside the assembly counstituency” option.
    • Submit the new address details and upload the required documents for the proof of new address.
    • For Offline procedure download the Form 8A (Transposition Assembly change)from the below link or from the official website, fill the form and attach required documents and submit it to the BLO.
  1. When shifted within AC
    • Fill the details asked on the screen and choose the “shifted within assembly counstituency” option.
    • Submit the new address details and upload the required documents for the proof of new address.
    • For Offline procedure download the Form 8A (Transposition Assembly change)from the above link or from the official website, fill the form and attach required documents and submit it to the BLO.

Voter ID Card Online Download

If an applicant wants a softcopy of his or her card then, voter id online download can be done in the following steps. This id can also be downloaded in the Digi locker account and can be used at the time of vote or any need of identification.

  1. Visit the NVSP website and login. If new then, register yourself.
  2. On the dashboard, select “e-EPIC Download” option.
  3. A new page will open, select any one of the options either voter id with EPIC number or by refrence id.
  4. Enter the details then, select the state and search.
  5. Voter id details will appear on the screen, click download to download softcopy.

NOTE: For now voter IDs which are made after 2020 will be available to download but in some time this feature is available for all persons.

How to Delete Voter ID Enrollment

If an applicant has enrolled for a voter id and then wants to cancel or delete it, it is possible in just a few steps. Therefore there are many reasons for the cancellation like the migration of voters from one place to another, death of voters, not a resident of this country, or something else. Follow these steps to cancel or delete your enrollment.

  1. Visit the official NVSP website, then login to the portal.
  2. In the left section of the page, select “Deletion of Enrollment(Self/Family)” option.
  3. New page will open asking to select option from Self and Family. Select accordingly.
  4. Then, Form 7 (Voter id card form for deletion of enrollment) will appear, fill the form correctly and submit it with decleration.

Replacement of EPIC (Elector’s Photo Identity Card)

EPIC replacement can be done easily if an applicant wants. For this applicant has to fill Form 001 (form for the replacement of EPIC) to make changes. These changes can be either offline or online. Follow these steps for the replacement-

  1. Visit the official NVSP website, then login to the portal.
  2. In the left section of the page, select “Replacement of Elector’s Photo Identity Card” option.
  3. New page will open asking to select option from Self and Family. Select accordingly.
  4. Then, Form 001 will appear, fill the form correctly and submit it with decleration.
  5. For offline applicants download the form 001 from website of take it from the electrorals office, fill the form completely and submit it to BLO of your area.

Know Your Area Assembely Constituency and BLO Details

With this online facility now anyone can see their area BLO list, Assembly/Parliamentary details, electoral officers details, political party representatives, etc. Just follow these steps-

  1. Visit to the NVSP website and login to the portal.
  2. On the dashboard, select the option “Know Your..”.
  3. New page will open, enter your EPIC number and press search.
  4. The search results will appear showing BLO, AC and Political Parties representatives.

How to File Voter ID Complaint?

If any person has some problem he or she can file an online complaint very easily. Follow these steps to file a complaint-

  1. Visit to the Voter id portal and login.
  2. On the top of the screen option to file complaint is available.
  3. After selecting, a new page will open asking the nature of your complaint. Select the nature from the options available and procedue.
  4. Now, page will display the issues regarding your nature of complaint. Select your issue form the given options.
  5. Now submit the complaint. A complaint number will be generated.

Voter ID Complaint Track Status

If a person has filed a complaint related to voter id and wants to its status then for that follow these steps-

  1. Visit NGSP Portal.
  2. Select option “Track your complaint” on the screen.
  3. Enter the complaint number which is generated while file the complaint.
  4. All the details related to complaint is available on the screen.

Duplicate Voter ID Card

There is an option for duplicate voter id also if the voter card is lost, damaged, etc person can apply for another one. Online and offline process for the duplicate voter is given below step by step-

  1. Download form EPIC-002 from the state CEO website or visit the nearest electoral office and get the form. This form is to apply for duplicate voter card.
  2. Fill the form with all the details asked and attach all the documents mentioned such as copy of address proof, FIR, etc.
  3. After completing the form, submit it to the local electoral office. There a refrence number issued to you.
  4. With the help of that number you can track your application for the duplicate card.
  5. On successful verification by the electoral office, you will be informed and you can collect your card from office.
